Troubling Headlines

Not surprisingly few things in the news surprise me anymore. When I awoke this morning and started flipping through the headlines, as I try to do everyday, two very disturbing headlines caught my attention.
RALEIGH, N.C. - A mother found her 4-year-old daughter decapitated in her home, and police issued an arrest warrant for the girl's father.

BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman dying of cancer began making videotapes of her family's time together so her 5-year-old son would remember her. Now, almost all of the tapes are gone. A few weeks after Melanie Worthington's death, robbers walked into her parents' home and stole two video recorders and most of the videotapes.

What has happened to us? Parents killing their children and thieves stealing something that could only be of value to the family of a dying woman. I worry about the America that we're leaving for our children.

My prayers are with both of these families.
