Evolution: Fact or Theory?

The Florida State Board of Education will be voting on new educations standards tomorrow, but one of the more than a dozen "big ideas" being proposed has parents across the state up in arms.

The Board of Education has proposed 18 "big ideas" in an attempt to raise educational standards across the Sunshine State. But one of the supposedly major ideas mandates that evolution be taught as fact, and that it be taught as the "fundamental concept underlying all of biology."

According to the Orlando Sentinel, parents across the state have flooded the Florida Department of Education's website, denouncing the new science standard. Many parents have threatened to pull their children from public schools if the new evolution standard passes, and others have called for evolution to be taught as theory alongside creation and intelligent design. However, officials are rejecting those ideas as religious indoctrination.

As a parent of two young children I am deeply concerned about the actions of the Florida Department of Education. Neither evolution nor creationism can be explained or proven to a scientific fact. There is much evidence to support both sides of the aisle.

To remove the choices in education and learning leads us closer and closer to a socialist nation. Evidence should be presented and the students allowed to draw their own conclusion. I believe in creationism. I don't profess to know everything there is to know on either evolution or creationism. I do understand that there is as much scientific evidence to debunk some evidence of evolutionism and to support creationism. My point is, that this is a choice that I have made after the things that I have learned. I wasn't forced or compelled to believe in something that violated my faith and understanding of the world as I know and believe it to be.

Public schools are the most dangerous place in the world to be for our children already. That trend began when we began to remove God from the classroom. For all these scientific advocates out there, I remain dumbfounded that they can't see the pattern of decline our society has taken since the removal of God from our society.

The Truth About Obama

I believe a person should correct falsehoods and half-truths whenever possible. For that reason I have decided to do something that, the very notion of it, repulses me. Too many people are disparaging Barack Obama based on his alleged faith and the manner in which he was sworn into his very public office.

For the record, Barrack Hussein Obama is not a Muslim. He has talked at length during various interviews about his faith in Jesus Christ. He and his family are members of a Christian church. His father was raised as a Muslim, but later left the faith and became a devout atheist.

Barrack Hussein Obama was not sworn into office using the Koran. People who lay claim to this must be confusing him with Congressman Keith Ellison, who is a Muslim and was sworn into office using a Koran.

I have been reading many of the comments left by readers of articles on FoxNews.com. I am sad to say, it seems as though many people are making declarations without having any knowledge of the truth. I do not support Obama; neither do I support Clinton or McCain. I think they’re all a bunch of liberals. If you’re not going to support a person, it should be because of something factual and not out of your own ignorance.

McCain - The Nail In the Republican's Coffin

There is no avoiding it. John McCain has become the nomination of the Republican party and that is very very sad. It’s sad because, who is John McCain? He’d like us all to believe that he is a conservative from the Reagan era. However, nothing could be further from the truth. McCain can only lay claim to being a conservative, if he does so in the context of being a conservative Democrat. He is one of the most liberal Republican’s our party knows. He has consistently voted against the major stances of the people who make up the Republican Party. He has fractured this party, nearly as much as President Bush has.

I never thought the day would come when I would vote for a liberal Democrat, but if McCain becomes our nominee – and I think it’s a near certainty that he will – I will cross the aisle and vote for the Democratic nominee.

Why? you may ask? Because at least with a Democratic president we will know what we are getting. There will be no room for interpretation. Not so with McCain. If McCain is elected we will always be guessing about what our president represents and how he will deal with our conservative positions.

I have stood by Huckabee for the majority of this race, and I think he would make a great president. However, it is clear that he will not become our party’s nominee and for that reason, he should have bowed out gracefully before Super Tuesday. His presence did indeed rob conservatives from their only remaining hope of electing a conservative…Mitt Romney, who is also not my first choice.

Rumors that Huckabee deliberately remained in the race to solidify his position as the Vice President in a McCain administration seems almost an absolute certainty. For that reason, I have lost a great deal of respect for Huckabee and have withdrawn all of my support from his campaign.

McCain has done more in this election process to divide the party than he ever will in uniting it. The division he has made worse guarantees that the Democrats will occupy the oval office in the coming general elections. I hope he is satisfied with his efforts.
